Friday, I met up with my old friend George Faust in Cloudcroft, NM. He and his sister have a place in Weed, a few miles down the road. It abuts the Lincoln National Forest.
Cloudcroft was about 20 degrees cooler than Alamogordo, on the desert floor. The ride up to their place was on a super nice windy road. We hung out, caught up and made final plans for the Big Bend trip. George had ridden up from his home in Pyote, TX, about 250 miles. We were both ready to relax. We sat on the cabin's front porch and had some cold beers.
Staying in the cabin was a welcome change from Gallup, so quiet. Right before going to bed, I saw the huge full moon rising over their pasture.
