Many of those working in Terlingua's tourism sector have a sort of "Yeah, we'll take your food order and eventually bring it to you. But we're damn sure going to act like we have better things to do than serve your sorry tourist ass" attitude.
Our motel was clean, but that was about it. I don't care about a microwave and fridge, but a coffee maker would have been nice. As would a place to hang our clothes.
We were certainly not looking for luxury at $55 a night. We just needed a place to sleep after a long day's ride. And that is what this long in the tooth prefab modular motel with stoved-in mattresses gave us.
But, it's in a beautiful place.
